Personal Transformation: a new approach to ending
global conflict
By Angela Clarke
Wars have
plagued humanity for centuries. Despite significant advancements in science,
medicine and technology, man has remained unable to resolve his differences in a
peaceful manner, and continues to cite economic concerns, religious differences,
and threats to national security as justification for what many would consider
primitive and barbaric behaviour.
Peacemakers
have worked tirelessly over the ages to eradicate wars, but have not succeeded
in most instances despite their best efforts. According to renowned author Dr
Deepak Chopra, a new approach to peacemaking is essential if results are to be
achieved.
"It is
an illusion to think that military strength and weapons create security.
Security and peace can only be obtained by those who are peaceful and
defenceless,” says Dr Chopra.
According to Dr Chopra, Personal Transformation is the only effective way to
eradicate war. It is based on the concept that war begins in each human heart
and can only end there. The key advantage that peacemakers have over war makers
is their number, and once a critical mass of people embraces the concept that a
world without war is possible, then it can change the world.
He advocates
a 7 day ritual of peace (www.theukalliance.co.uk),
which if practiced consistently by sufficient numbers of people, will eventually
transform the world from its polarised state to one where peace, love and
compassion overcome national differences and politically-driven agendas.
Part of
the peace ritual is the daily practice of meditation, one of the most powerful
tools to help us to restore the harmony within and to gain access to our bodies'
inner intelligence. According to Peggy O’Hare, Primordial Sound Meditation
Instructor, and leader of the UK Chapter of the Alliance for a New Humanity, the
benefits of regular meditation practice have been widely reported. “Meditation
can produce stress reduction, strengthened immune system, improved powers of
concentration, better memory, refinement and enlivening of the nervous system,
awakening of regenerative energies, slowing of biologic aging processes, and
orderly functioning of the body's organs, glands and systems,” she says.
Many light
workers claim that Meditation can also contribute to raising humanity’s
vibrational frequency, from the negative levels of hatred, anger and fear, to
the positive levels of love, harmony and peace.
One of the
key factors, however, seems to be state of mind. In other words, ‘Up’ feelings
such as joy, hope, vitality, love, peace, compassion, and gratitude appear to
raise vibrations. ‘Down’ feeling such as anger, sorrow, guilt, hatred, despair,
fear, jealousy and frustration appear to lower vibrations. On a physical level,
healthy habits such as good foods, exercise, and balance raise vibrations whilst
habits that damage and imbalance the health of the body such as poor foods, lack
of sleep and too much alcohol can lower vibrations.
The
intention is key, and this is what sends out a vibration. When we feel anger,
which is human, we can still make a conscious choice to act out of love instead
of anger. By doing this, we raise our vibration from one of anger to one of
love. If a critical mass of people starts to do this, then the whole world will
start to vibrate on a positive, loving and compassionate level.
Inspirational singer and author Chloë Goodchild believes that one of the ways to
achieve world peace is through singing. Chloë’s composition, the Singing
Field, was inspired by the love poetry of Sufi mystic, Rumi, and calls for a
transformation of suffering and revelation of the compassionate heart in all
beings.
Some
common suggestions for raising vibrations include:
-
Daily meditation, visualisations
-
Yoga and/or other daily exercise
-
Eating healthy foods such as fruit and vegetables
-
Singing!
-
Listening to new age music
-
Cleaning out cupboards and Feng Shui
-
Spending time in nature
-
Breathing deeply
-
Keeping company with positive people
-
Aromatherapy oils
-
Enjoying every aspect of life, and appreciating it as a blessing!
As part of the movement towards world peace, the Alliance for a New Humanity was
founded by leading author Dr Deepak Chopra and 11 other visionaries, with the
objective of creating a new humanity of a world at peace, where kindness and
compassion reigns, human rights are upheld, and environmental eco-systems are
repaired and sustained.
To achieve this, the Alliance is connecting leading ‘Conversation Leaders’,
including caring communities, groups and individuals, at a global level, to
build a powerful united force able to bring about global change.
“Change is generated from consciousness”, says Deepak Chopra. “If we act
collectively, as an alliance, our strength comes from critical mass. We are
here to evolve as individuals,” he continues, “and then to spread that
influence. I am committed to inspiring the first million people to join this
movement.”
The fundamental principle of the Alliance is a consciousness based on the
concept that everything in life is connected, and therefore our well-being is
linked to the well-being of all. Its key focus is to invite participants to
connect, communicate, inspire and support at grass roots levels to create a new
humanity supported of a world at peace.
The Alliance is supported by a growing list of world renowned humanitarians,
Nobel Peace laureates, authors, musicians, and artists, including
internationally acclaimed performing artists Annie Lennox and Olivia
Newton-John.
