Richmond Alliance for a New Humanity celebrates Year of Rumi with Music, Poetry and Art     March 8, 2007

The Alliance for a New Humanity will celebrate the Year of Rumi (2007) with a magical combination of poetry, art and music at the Parish Rooms, (upstairs from La Buvette), George Street, Richmond between 2.30-4.30pm on March 10, 2007.

The 13th century mystical Persian poet, Rumi, is one of the most widely read poets in the world. His wonderful message of love speaks to the heart, transcending boundaries of language and time. Varying from stern to ecstatic, from everyday to intoxicating, from humorous to exhilarating, Rumi offers profound wisdom and insights which provide a feast for the spirit.

The March ‘Satsang’ (gathering) will feature a breathtaking blend of poetry, art, and music. Inspirational Storyteller Gloria Shiana Betts will bring Rumi’s poetry to life, whilst talented flautist Paul Cheneour will express Rumi’s soul through a beautiful and haunting rendition on flute.   During this moving performance, Spiritual artist Mandy Brown, who creates artwork directly from Source, will create a work of art inspired by this uplifting experience.

Paul Cheneour www.redgoldmusic.com is a highly acclaimed flautist and composer with 31 CD albums, 3 major films, 4 videos and 4 documentaries to his credit. Mandy Brown mandy@gayatrireiki.org is a spiritual artist who who taps into the energy of music, words, flowers, trees or other mediums to create art through spirit.

The UK Chapter of the Alliance holds regular Satsangs (gatherings) in Richmond on the 2nd Saturday of each month The group is part of the global Alliance  for a New Humanity, which was founded by leading author Dr Deepak Chopra and 11 other visionaries.  The Alliance’s key objective is to create a new humanity of a world at peace, where kindness and compassion reigns, human rights are upheld, and environmental eco-systems are repaired and sustained.

To achieve this, the Alliance is connecting leading ‘Conversation Leaders’, including caring communities, groups and individuals, at a global level, to build a powerful united force able to bring about global change.

“Change is generated from consciousness”, says Deepak Chopra. “If we act collectively, as an alliance, our strength comes from critical mass.  We are here to evolve as individuals,” he continues, “and then to spread that influence. I am committed to inspiring the first million people to join this movement.”

The fundamental principle of the Alliance is a consciousness based on the concept that everything in life is connected, and therefore our well-being is linked to the well-being of all.   Its key focus is to invite participants to connect, communicate, inspire and support  at grass roots levels to create a new humanity supported of a world at peace.

The Alliance is supported by a growing list of world renowned humanitarians, Nobel Peace laureates, authors, musicians, and artists, including internationally acclaimed performing artists Annie Lennox and Olivia Newton-John.
